Giveaway: PenguinBot

It's a rare occurrence for me to be found in the kitchen without an apron on. Partially because I make a crazy mess when I cook, and partially because aprons are some of the most fashionable things that I own. At times, aprons act as my muse in the kitchen. I have an apron that I don specifically for baking, another for stove top cooking, and even one that I prefer to wear when washing dishes. On days when I really really don't want to cook, the thought of putting on my favorite apron can give me the push that I need to drag myself in front of the oven.

Knowing this, you can imagine how very excited I was when Laurel, one of the craftiest ladies I know, started selling aprons from her shop PenguinBot.com!

Laurel has a knack for picking out the most beautiful fabrics and pairing them in superb combinations. She makes everything herself with her trusty sewing machine and the quality is top notch. I should know...I already own one of her bags...oh and a knit clutch...and a coin purse with Idaho on it...and an oven mitt (ohh the oven mitt!).

Giveaway-Promo

PenguinBot.com is kindly offering one of you sweet readers an aprons AND an oven mitt from her shop. An apron and an oven mitt you guys. I can't think of a better way to kick off the upcoming Cooking Panel Discussion (it's starts tomorrow by the way!) than with this handmade set that is guaranteed to get you cookin'. Or at the very least...dancing around in the kitchen with your apron and oven mitt while popping popcorn in the microwave.

Oh, man. I LOVE aprons! I think you can't have too many. Very cute stuff, Laurel.

I can't choose just one thing that inspires me, so I'm going to have to say: 1) recipes (cookbooks, blogs, etc.), and 2) great ingredients.

The Farmer's Market is always an inspiration to me. I'm always motivated to make something great when I get home with armloads of farm-fresh, local ingredients.

When I need an extra boost of inspiration or encouragement when I'm cooking, I wear an apron that was made and used by my great-grandmother. I'd love to add a PenguinBot creation to my ever-growing apron collection!

PS- I tweeted it, too (@laylarose08).

Thanks!

Seriously cute stuff!! I like the "large brown bird tote" or something like that.... you can never have too many totes... :)

What inspires me? Pretty food. :) The thought of making something attactive in the kitchen just sends my little heart a-flutterin'. So, of course, any time I see some "pretty" pictures of food, I'm ready to put on my chef hat (figuratively speaking).

Seriously, YOU inspire me in the kitchen! How many times have I made something just because you told me to? I would love to have more then one stinking cute apron ;)

And I blogged about it ;)

I LOVE those Penguinbot aprons! I definitely would love to have one :)

Cookbooks definitely inspire me in the kitchen. I'm a cookbook JUNKIE, I feel like I collect them. I love finding a recipe, and then tweaking it a little to make it something we LOVE.

PS I tweeted about it too! @AXOCutie143

Serin took mine. Also you inspire me to use the right ingredients for a recipe. Most of the time I think " oh I'll just use this instead of what it calls for because this is what I have on hand" but I know the extra effort will always pay off!

I love donning my cute aprons before I start baking/cooking. I feel ready to get down to business; my apron puts me in the zone. Aside from a great apron, good music inspires me in the kitchen.

Mixing and matching my ingredients at home so I don't have to run to the store makes me be creative and inspires me.

What inspires me most is what I can find! I am one of those people who never actually "plans" a meal... I just look through the kitchen, see what I have, and then start! I just love the idea of creation! Mixing smells, colors and textures! So, whatever I find is what inspires me at the moment. It could be the color of a bean, the scent of a spice or the texture of a meat... You just never know! :)

Nutrition is what usually inspires me in the kitchen. Finding a meal that tastes good and is healthy too.

Old cookbooks inspire me.

My favorite is the one from my Danish great-grandmother. It's dog-eared and worn. The pages are spotted with butter and traces of baking past. I love to see her old-fashioned curlicue handwriting in the margin...a little note for apricot jam, or editing the measurements a smidge. That book makes me want to knead and mix the kitchen into a haze of warmth just like she used to.

My guys inspire me in the kitchen. There is nothing I love more than hearing right in the middle of dinner - "Mom? This dinner rocks!"

Really? I <3 that!

Oh - and I blogged! You know where...

Events (holidays, get togethers, company, etc) inspire me in the kitchen. I just wish there was something that was inspiring about housework ;)

I'm loving the totes and the aprons.

My mother almost always had a homecooked meal for me growing up and I just thought that was what a good Mom and Wife did for their families and husbands. So I have continued on in trying to do the same for my family. Also...I just really love to eat good food, so I like to try new things. Which is why I am so incredibly excited about this panel. Love your guts MJ!

P.S. Since Hannah also loves to cook, she has taken over my favorite apron that Makenna actually made for me as a graduation gift, so I could really use a new one.

At the moment, the changing of the seasons is inspiring me to try new and more seasonal recipes. I want to bake pumpkin pies and make pot roast with apples and new potatoes.

Right now, a new fella in my life inspires me in the kitchen. He's not big on cooking, but loves to eat.... Plus, he'll try anything, so I can try out new ideas and recipes on him.

I'm inspired by food bloggers and their delish recipes. Plus by the thought that when I'm done CREATING, I get to make with the EATING! :-)

I am so in. I blogged about the giveaway on my blog too http://simpleviewpoints.blogspot.com/2009/10/giveaway.html

So....I'll be honest. Sometimes all the nasty crusties on my kitchen counter inspire me. I HAVE to clean them up. Can't have them staring me in the face. Once I get started in the kitchen, it's hard to stop. When it is all clean, I continue cooking/baking. It is where awesomeness comes from. Also.....food blogs definitely inspire me.

OHHH you have no idea how much I NEED an oven mitt... mine is an oven mitt horribly gone wrong!

What inspires me??? A picture from a magazine where the whole family is sitting together with big cheesy smiles on everyones' faces!
