From sewing to cards, and sewing cards

DSC_8390

These cards exist because of a serious bout of crafting ADD.

I had been sewing quite diligently for a couple of days getting everything put together for Z-cakes' birthday when out of the corner of my eye I caught a small pile of kraft cardstock. I quickly looked away willing myself to focus on the task at hand. But all I could see were scraps of red fabric and pink felt that were practically screaming to be sewed onto a card. "I would technically still be sewing," I thought to myself; "and I wouldn't even have to re-thread my machine." It was like I had no choice.

It didn't take long to use up my cardstock. Especially now that my method for scrapbooking and card making is to go with my first inspiration and to not worry too much about extra embellishments. I do like adding little things like faux stitching or glue glitter here and there if the card looks too empty, but for the most part, I like the simplicity.

Now all I have to do is make some cute envelopes, and I will be all ready to mail valentines to grandparents and great-grandparents. Whew. Time to get back to sewing. Or maybe I'll go make this instead because, dang, that is one cute garland.

Way too cute! I'm dying over the one with the three stripes of bunched up red ribbon. So creative!

Last week I discovered the ruffler presser foot in my stash of unknown function presser feet. I was so excited, I sewed up almost all of my scraps! No girls at my place, so I've been looking for something to stitch. You've given me an incredible idea! Thank you!

Hey - and I know I don't fall in the grandparent category, but cousins need love too...

C.U.T.E. You make me feel so boring and uncrafty. Oh, that's right... that's because I am boring and uncrafty. I love your cute cards!! Thank you for sharing.

I love the one with the scallopped edges. Super cute. Maybe I should get my act together? ... still thinking about it...

I love all of these and if I could buy them all from you I most certainly would! Please, yes please.
This is the main reason I want a sewing machine - I NEED to sew cards!

ADORABLE and creative and now I'm going to sew some paper. Well, not now so much. But, maybe in the morning time.

Those are too cute. My heart especially goes out to the ruffles, though. I may have to borrow my roommate's sewing machine to do some stitching of my own.
