Dear Spring, Hurry.

Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit, Y'all!

Whew. March. You're here. I know that for some of you February passed quickly but for me the last couple of weeks dragged on. I felt remorse one day when I felt that it may be my responsibility to let you all know that time had indeed stopped. That the thing with which we all think speeds so quickly by had actually ceased to be. But then I woke up and it was March 1st so, as I said, Whew.

Today we're welcoming March by taking a field trip to visit my friend Karisa for a Crafternoon and tutorial on backyard chickens! That's right. The keeping of chickens will be happening for us. At least someday. So I'm going to learn all I can right now in order to get things cranking ASAP.

Wish me luck! And it is okay if you think I'm crazy. You know who else thinks I'm crazy? My mom. And probably your mom.

Love,

You are not crazy, you are so smart. Free eggs in your backyard. Teaching Z how to do chores and take care of animals. How fun to have a little peice of farm life right in your backyard. How many are you going to get, what kind, and I must see your hen house design. I am so jealous. I have been planning to do this for years, and now I am renting. As soon as I buy a house it is going to happen!! So excited for you!

My mom wouldn't think you were crazy. Though she might think her own chicken-keeping husband is crazy (your mom might think that, too!). He's got a LOT of chickens.

Will you nibble on Miss Ruby's thighs for me? Thanks.

Who thinks you're crazy? Not me!

But then, you knew I would say that, right? (I'm thinking about our shared antler-love, here...)

I've been wanting chickens too! You'll have to tell me all about it.

Jason, on the other hand, would rather not. I'll talk him into it someday...

Phaw! Your mom can't think you're too crazy - she's got how many head of cattle in her back yard?

I hear that the most difficult thing about having chickens is getting used to eating them when they're still warm.

I for one am thrilled that it's March (even though I still feel like it was just Christmas). And it's 50 degrees today! No jacket! Warm! Of course it's supposed to get cold again this week, but I am living it up today.

Um, so you remember all my posts about chickens? No, really, do you? I have read 3 books on the subject and know that I will indeed do it someday, but I'm not sure that this house will be the one. I will surely be jealous if you realize your backyard chickens before I do. I think I started researching about 2 years ago...
