Here We Go

Photobucket

Ahh...it's finally here. The day I get to tell you all about my little/big project. Little in the sense that I've gathered up a tiny bunch of my favorite bloggers and crafters and asked them to share their goodness with you, and big in the sense that it's the biggest series I've ever had the pleasure of putting together. I hope you enjoy this series as much as I have enjoyed planning it.

When I announced that I was going to do another handmade holiday I started thinking about how great it would be to help others plan and produce a handmade holiday that they could be proud of. I thought about how I used to think about making gifts for people, usually in mid-December, only to throw my arms up in despair over the lack of ideas and time. Okay, I didn't really throw my arms up—that would be kind of lame—it was more like I just crossed the idea off of a lengthy to-do list.

Eventually in my case, necessity was the mother of handmade holidays. Last year we simply didn't have the money to buy something for everyone on our list. We had to get creative and that meant that I had to get crafting. I scoured the internet for ideas and tutorials, I rummaged through my stash, I learned some fun new tricks. I had not anticipated the fun I would have while making gifts for the ones I love and I certainly didn't anticipate wanting to do it again and again and again.

And since I love you so much, I want to help you put together your own handmade holiday! For the next two weeks I will be featuring giveaways, tutorials, and inspiration. Some of the giveaways will be things that will help you get started on making your own gifts. For the non-crafty, there will be giveaways featuring handmade wares from crafters that you can turn around and give to your sister-in-law. All you'll need is a pretty bow. This is an all inclusive series.

I have my fingers crossed that you will spread the word using the little button over there. See it? Over there on the right? That sucker took me waaaay too long to make. Seriously you guys, remind me to just hire a graphic designer next time. Feel free to add the button to your own blog if you feel so inclined. Also, please comment often! Ideas, suggestions, and questions in the form of comments can only make this series better so I encourage you to speak up and discuss amongst yourselves.

So. In conclusion: If you think it is too late to plan a handmade holiday, it's not. If you think you can't have a handmade holiday because you don't craft, you can. If you're looking for a little push in the right direction, it's here.

And it all starts Monday.

See you then! Happy weekend everyone.

This is inspiring! I do love making handmade gifts, and I was rather feeling I had largely missed the boat on that this year... can't wait for the series.
